I’m a music publicist, journalist, public speaker, and educator passionate about amplifying underrepresented voices and advocating for greater Black representation in alternative music spaces. My work spans publicity, media, mentorship, and education, connecting culture and creativity in meaningful ways.
I began my career as a publicist at Secretly Group, working with groundbreaking artists across labels like Dead Oceans, Jagjaguwar, and Secretly Canadian. I then joined Satellite414, representing high-profile artists and fostering authentic connections between them and the media. After gaining valuable experience, I launched my boutique agency, kp communications, to build bespoke PR campaigns with a focus on championing artists from marginalised communities. Over the years, I’ve worked with a range of incredible clients who are innovators, challenging the status quo in their respective fields.
Storytelling is at the heart of my work, so journalism and public speaking have been natural extensions of my career. I’ve written for respected publications such as The Guardian, The Telegraph, i-D, The Independent, I, Clash, and gal-dem, exploring topics like race, identity, and representation within the creative industries.

Public speaking and event moderation have also played a key role in my work. I’ve been invited to speak at and moderate panels for major industry events such as The Great Escape in Brighton, Sørveiv in Norway, Break Out West, and Green Man Festival. These experiences allow me to share my insights on PR, music, arts and representation as well as structural change in the creative industries, while also fostering important conversations within the industry.
Mentorship and education are central to what I do. As Mentorship Coordinator for Creative Opps, I connect young creatives with industry professionals to help them grow their careers. I also teach at BIMM Institute, where I lead final-year students in the Diversity in the Creative Industries module. This role allows me to engage directly with students on the importance of inclusion and representation within the creative landscape. I also deliver sessions on music PR and media representation, helping students develop a practical understanding of the industry and their potential to help shape a more inclusive future.
Alongside my PR and teaching work, I contribute to the Music Education Council’s communications strategy, supporting its mission to make music education more accessible and inclusive.
Throughout my career, I’ve been fortunate to receive recognition for my work, including being named to Music Week’s Women in Music Roll of Honour (2017), the She Said So Alternative Power List (2018), and as a Keychange Innovator (2023).
Ultimately, I’m driven by a desire to empower others and ensure that more diverse voices and stories get the recognition they deserve. Whether I’m working on a PR campaign, writing an article, speaking at an event, or mentoring the next generation of creatives, I remain focused on fostering meaningful change in the creative industries.
